One of the most anticipated on-board amenities will be the largest waterpark at sea. With six “record-breaking” slides including Pressure Drop, the industry’s first open free-fall slide, a 46-foot-tall Frightening Bolt, the tallest drop slide at sea, Storm Surge and Hurricane Hunter, the first family raft slides at sea. The largest ship in the Disney fleet is a result of the line buying the partly completed cruise vessel Global Dream after the collapse of former owner Asia Cruises. Although itineraries have yet to be announced, Disney says Disney Adventure will sail in "new global destinations" and will be based outside the U.S. and based in Singapore.

While adrenaline junkies are setting their sights on Thrill Island, with the Category 6 waterpark full of slides and an over-the-water obstacle course, we're more excited about Icon's newest laid-back neighborhood. Coming in September 2023, Seabourn Pursuit combines the luxury of a Seabourn ocean cruise ship with the adventurous spirit of an expedition ship. Plus, the top deck of the ship is getting some unusual-for-Princess sizzle with the addition of a glass-dome-topped pool area that will transform into a nightspot after the sun goes down. The bigger passenger capacity is in part due to the ship's greater focus on family travelers. Icon of the Seas is being built with more cabins offering extra bunks to accommodate families with children.
Celebrity Cruises

During the ship’s inaugural season, Captain Thorhauge will lead the Queen Anne on voyages to the Canary Islands, the Mediterranean, and Northern Europe. Butlers and expedition staff will mingle onboard, while passengers can enjoy popular Crystal dining venues including the Waterside Restaurant and acclaimed chef Nobu Matsuhisa's Umi Uma and Sushi Bar. The ship will also offer a two-level, glass-enclosed solarium for perfect scenic cruising regardless of the outside weather conditions. Our list of newly built cruise ships with first sailings ("Inaugural Cruises", aka "Maiden Voyages") offers simply the most special travel deals ever. These are absolutely unique offers for one-time-only events, which just like our birthdays are moments cherished for a lifetime. Most of the world's top cruise companies add to their fleets one newly built/acquired ship every 2 to 4 years on average.
Resilient Lady will be the third ship for Virgin Voyages, the startup line backed by Sir Richard Branson — and it'll look familiar to anyone who has sailed on the brand's first two vessels (Scarlet Lady and Valiant Lady). The solo cabins, notably, also are concierge-level cabins, which means they come with access to a private keycard-accessed concierge lounge and complimentary use of the ship's Spa Terrace. The year will also bring the first new ship in nearly a decade from upscale line Oceania Cruises, to be called Vista, as well as the first of a new class of ship for luxury line Silversea Cruises, to be called Silver Nova.
That is, while they will be new builds, they'll feature designs we have seen before. Like Viking's other ocean ships, it'll sail itineraries that feature more time in ports than is common at many other lines. Like the earlier Viking ships, it'll also be adults-only, with no passengers under the age of 18 allowed. The first, Marquee, will be an alfresco dining venue that is also off-center, with an orientation that offers commanding views of the sea from the ship's port side.
Its restaurants include a version of Viking's signature Italian spot, Manfredi's, and the Scandinavian-inspired Mamsen's outlet. Also familiar is a top-of-the-ship, glass-walled Explorers' Lounge promising stunning views of passing scenery. Like other expedition ships, Viking Octantis also sails with a large and seasoned "expedition team" that includes biologists, botanists, geologists, glaciologists and ornithologists who lecture regularly. As is typical for expedition ships, it's a tough vessel, with a reinforced bow that lets it bump through ice in polar regions and extra tanks for fuel and food.
And yet, while it's 21% bigger, it's designed to hold just 17% more passengers. At 250,800 tons, Icon of the Seas will be the biggest cruise ship ever built, and it'll be chock-full of more amusements, restaurants, bars and entertainment venues than any cruise vessel ever. Like the four earlier Oasis Class ships, it will be 18 decks high and nearly 1,200 feet long — the equivalent of more than three football fields.
Other new venues include Jumbeaux's Sweets, an ice cream parlor and candy shop inspired by Jumbeaux's Cafe in the movie "Zootopia," and Skipper Society, a new bar inspired by Disney's Jungle Cruise ride and its wisecracking skippers. At the latter, which will be where The Bayou is on Disney Wish, passengers will find a menu of themed cocktails and light snacks, such as waffles. Inside the vessel, you'll find more lounges, bars, restaurants and shops than you can imagine, plus a huge casino, spas and theaters with Broadway-style shows. Silver Ray's pool area, in particular, will be striking, as is the pool area on Silver Nova. The long and narrow pool won't be in the middle of the deck but offset to its starboard side, and it'll be oriented to face outward to the sea. Nearly all the lounge chairs around the pool will face in the same direction toward the sea, too.
